WORK: AT A GLANCE
+ RESUME
OVERVIEW:
I am Tanvi Mallapur, a Senior Product Designer who loves creating art. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating and working with diverse teams, both large and small (and singular).
My guiding principle in design is to create experiences that I personally would enjoy using. This deeply personal approach helps me ensure every user interaction is not only seamless but also engaging and intuitive.
APPROACH:
I have worked in teams and as an Independent contributor - both in a company and freelancing. I believe that design represents only a fraction of a designer's role. Before diving into the aesthetics, numerous other vital components must be considered. Personally, I emphasize its broader impact on the company or business. I analyze whether the design translates into revenue or if it’s merely for visual appeal (nothing wrong with it being just the latter). Evaluating the effort and time required, I question the feasibility of incorporating specific features. I also explore opportunities for product upselling, aligning the design choices with the strategic goals of the business.
Over the years I have learnt and stuck to an approach with my work outlined below. This keep changing and updating as I learn and well, make mistakes. Few of these points are work in progress(2).
1/ Quick Iterations - more time for exploring and arriving at the right design solution.
2/ Transparency in Progress - more updates, small and big. I try to consistently share my work in progress, often through detailed screen recordings with voice-overs or over a call.
3/ Design as a Continuous Journey - it is a constant process of exploration and iteration. I’m not afraid to work on ideas in parallel.
4/ Embracing Diverse Perspectives - exploratory sessions to gain new, different perspectives. It helps with thinking outside the box.
RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS:
I am the kind of person who celebrates all my wins - big or small. Here are a few of my recent ones :)
1/ Got to design a whole app from scratch (Rubberband.social) - it was just an idea which I got to visualise and help others experience the idea.
2/ Led the branding and packaging design for Ultrahuman (whilst also working on rest of the design with the team on - UI, Print, Campaigns etc.).
3/ Reduced packaging costs to about 70% by introducing Sensor Refill Packaging at Ultrahuman.
4/ My photography work got displayed in Glasgow and Bangalore.
CAPABILITIES:
product design
design systems
design leadership
design thinking
branding
prototyping
wireframing
